Phonics
Throughout Reception and Year 1, the children take part in a phonics lesson daily. These last around 30-40 minutes and follow the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds phonics scheme. During these sessions, your child will receive direct, frequent teaching and opportunities for repeated practice of reading, writing and spelling. These sessions are consistent and pacey, ensuring we a full coverage of the Little Wandle phonics scheme. An overview of what each year group will be learning throughout the scheme can be found on the year group pages to the left.
